Try going in by the file system and actually deleting the dbname.ft subdirectory.

If that does not work, try making a local replica of the db, then delete the db, then make a new replica from your local, then rebuild the index. If all that does not work, you probably have a document that has some corruption (perhaps in an attachment) that is hanging the indexer.
